Texel, an island in the Wadden Sea, has surprisingly many options for taking in a show, at the theatre, at the cinema or at one of the island's unusual locations.
Whether you want to see the latest blockbuster, enjoy an evening of cabaret, a concert or a play, there is always something on Texel to tickle your fancy.
Almost all the big names of Dutch cabaret have performed on the stage of Theater & Restaurant De Toegift in Den Hoorn and many return regularly for a new show or a try-out. De Toegift is famous for its unique events, including Broadway, the three-day festival held every two years in the sitting rooms and sheds of residents.
Texel has a lovely cinema with a café-restaurant. The latest films are shown at Cinema Texel in Den Burg, and special viewings are arranged regularly in combination with culinary surprises. Cinema Texel offers a large range of popular blockbusters and art house films for cinematic buffs.
Regular musical performances, ranging from classic to blues and from country to pop, are held at several venues on the island in addition to various special events like Texel CultuurEiland, Sompop and Bluesfestival Texel. More unusual venues for concerts include Hoornder Church, a number of island cafés and Evenementenhal Texel at De Krim Holiday Park near De Cocksdorp.
