Texel still has real dark skies. This makes it a fantastic location for Nacht van de Nacht, a night sky event to raise light pollution awareness, which takes place annually in October. On this night, there are fun, special activities being organised on the island. For instance, you can go on a night walk, have a really good look at the stars and join the atmospheric lights tour.
