6 tips for children’s activities in the Christmas holidays

Even in the winter holidays, there’s lots of exciting things to do for children on Texel. We have selected a few of them:

1. Watching seals

In the winter, the shelter at Ecomare often cares for grey seal pups, which you can go and see. During the Christmas holidays there are extra activities for children, such as viewing the treasures from the beach find cart or become a real researcher in the sea laboratory. Ecomare is open every day except December 25 and January 1.

2. Do the New Year's Dip

The whole family can take part in the New Year’s Dip in the sea at De Koog, De Cocksdorp or Den Hoorn. But if that’s a little too chilly for you, you can share the fun of this refreshing start to the New Year as a spectator!

3. Walk the Sommetjespad

A walk in the woods will be a favourite among young children if you take the Sommeltjespad; Texel Sommeltjes (gnomes) will show you the way.

4. Go visit the lambs

At Schapenboerderij Texel, you can cuddle lambs all year round. It is also possible to attend a sheep herding demonstration. The sheep farm is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

5. Climbing in the indoor playground

There’s a indoor playground at Holiday Park De Krim; you are welcome even if you are not staying at the park. The same applies to their other facilities such as the bowling alleys, glow-in-the-dark-golf and laser games.

6. Visit Museum Kaap Skil

At Kaap Skil, the museum with a focus on beachcombers and mariners, children can craft and draw. On Thursday, the millers operate De Traanroeier grain mill. Kaap Skil is open from Tuesday untill Sunday.
