5 x fun to do during spring time

Cuddling lambs, relaxing on a wagon ride or celebrating the arrival of spring around the Meierblis bonfires: there's no end of things to do on Texel during spring time. We give you five tips

1. Cuddling lambs

Thousands of lambs are born on Texel in the spring and you'll see them frolicking through the meadows everywhere. Anyone wanting to experience just how wonderful it is to hug a lamb for themselves should head along to the Texel Sheep Farm.

2. Texel bonfires

The Meierblis takes place on Texel on 30 April every year; it's a ritual that's unique to the island and involves the lighting of bonfires everywhere on the island to celebrate the start of spring. Every village has its own public Meierblis event.

3. Make a boat trip

Several ships depart from the port of Oudeschild for a trip across the Wadden Sea. Some sail almost daily. Sail along and get to know the unique Wadden area.

4. Heading off out into the nature

Head off out into the great outdoors with a Texel forester in spring! Discover the De Schorren salt-marsh area, the De Slufter nature reserve or visit the Netherlands' biggest spoonbill colony in the Geul valley. For information about all of the island's nature trips, see the What's On part of our site.

5. A relaxing wagon ride

You'll find that you don't have any trouble at all relaxing on a wagon ride across the beach and through the dunes. Sit back and watch the wonderful nature that Texel has to offer slowly passing by during a ride in the Jan Plezier or Puur Texel. Where better to spend spring time than on Texel? Don't delay: take a look at the accommodation still available for the spring period!
