Ban on smoking and open fires on Texel

Due to the ongoing drought and heat, there is an increased risk of wildfires. The Municipal Executive has therefore decided to introduce a ban on smoking and open fires in forest, dune and heathland areas on Texel with effect from 5 August 2024.

No smoking and no fires may be lit within a distance of 30 metres in the forest, dune and heathland area. Be extra careful with barbecues, braziers, campfires, etc. and do not smoke in nature reserves. Do not park your car in high dry grass and throw rubbish (especially glass) in the designated bins.
