The price of crossings to Wadden Islands Terschelling, Vlieland, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog will go up, but Texel will keep the same fare for the crossing.
An article in the Leeuwarder Courant of 10 October 2023 states that the price of boat trips from Harlingen to Terschelling and Vlieland will be increased by 8.9% from 1 January. Rederij Doeksen and Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten are also raising fares. The shipping companies are opting for this due to inflation. They say they need to raise prices to pay for fuel, staff and parts.
Prices for the ferry crossing to Texel will not be increased: they will remain the same as you are used to. At the time of writing, that is 2.50 euros per pedestrian, 5 euros per bicycle (including cyclist) and 26 to 39 euros for a car (including passengers). On Texel, residents have a say in how the price evolves. They make up the majority of the shareholders of TESO, the ferry service between Den Helder and Den Hoorn.
