Are you a real birdwatcher? Then you should definitely join the birding excursion XL! Accompanied by an enthusiastic guide you will go out for three hours and look for as many bird species as possible on the north side of Texel. You will take your time to look closely at the different species and identify them on the basis of their characteristics. A pair of binoculars will come in handy. If you do not have binoculars, you can borrow one from the Bird Information Center. Naturally, you will also pay attention to the song/sound of the birds. The species you find will be very diverse. Waders on the mud flats, water birds and gulls in the lakes and various songbirds and birds of prey in the dunes. The species palette is very variable and also depends on the season. This bird excursion XL is suitable for young and old. The excursion is a walking excursion. The guide may call on you to drive by car to the location where the walk starts. The route chosen by the guide depends on the weather and the tide (ebb or flood). With rising tide, for example, it is interesting to visit the wadden dike because the birds come to the dike a little more due to the rising tide. When the wind is strong, we look for a route where we are as little affected by the wind as possible. A route through the dunes is then often preferred. The nice thing about birdwatching is that no two excursions are the same. Even if you go several times along the same route, you will always see different species.
