Saturday January 20, 2024 The Friends Foundation of the Maartenskerk organizes: "Tesselaars en de natuur", with a lecture, image presentation and quiz in the Maartenskerk. The Texel Historical Association provides a lecture on 'What is Texel now?'. This lecture will be given by Arthur Oosterbaan, curator of Ecomare. A light-hearted lecture about nature on Texel and how people deal with it. And a quiz about bird and plant names in the Tessels dialect by Ina Schrama. Texel nature at a glance Tessels, seggies and names in our dialect, what do we still know? A list to refresh our knowledge of Texel. Light images are shown here. Time: 7:30 PM with coffee or tea, the program starts at 8:00 PM. Soft drinks and a snack during the break. Entrance: €10

This protestant church is located in the middle of Oosterend. The Maartenskerk dates from the eleventh century and is therefore the oldest church on the island. Open The church can be visited from May to October. You can then receive an explanation about the church and there is an opportunity to light a candle and take a moment of rest and meditation. Historic Area The church is the center of a village with many old houses. It is worth walking through Oosterend on foot and to see the historic buildings.
