Homegrown art - anniversary exhibition from TEEVA
Saturday 15 February to Thursday 13 March 2025 TEEVA (Texel's Only Real Free Academy) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an exhibition in their 'clubhouse'. TEEVA consists of a group of amateur painters who have been meeting weekly for many years. In good weather at a beautiful spot in the Texel countryside. Outside the summer season in their 'clubhouse' (De Vermaning), where they usually invite a model. It is very special that after all these years they still manage to find people who want to pose for an afternoon! The result of their work can now be seen. The group currently consists of: Greet Bruin, Tineke Nijman, Marja Keijser, Dienus Bol, Dirk Terpstra, Jack Betsema and Hans Reints. This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
