For the temporary exhibition 'Doggerland', which will remain on display for a year, an old acquaintance returns to the museum: the lifelike model of the woolly rhino. Doggerland is a traveling exhibition created by the National Museum of Antiquities. At Ecomare the display is supplemented with a display case with finds from Texel collectors. In prehistoric times, Texel was part of a huge plain that extended to England. This plain, where the southern North Sea is now located, was called Doggerland. There were large mammals such as mammoths, giant deer and woolly rhinos. The people who lived there hunted those animals and made tools from the bones and antlers. Remnants of this lost world are still being fished out and found. The story of Doggerland is told in the exhibition based on these finds. Opening hours: open daily from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm. The box office closes at 4:30 PM.
