From the Vogelinformatiecentrum (Bird Information Center) in De Cocksdorp you go with two enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides by minibus to the southern tip of Texel. The excursion starts in De Mokbaai, a beautiful tidal area between De Hors and 't Horntje. From the south side you have a beautiful overview and high numbers of waterfowl and waders are easy to see. Marsh harriers, bearded males, reed buntings breed in the wide reed collar and you can even see and hear the first bluethroat there. In addition, the excursion continues through the dunes towards De Horsmeertjes and the Kreeftepolder. The western and eastern lakes are separated by a sand dike. Along the banks are wide reed beds, willow forest and creeping willow. In the lakes rest and forage various duck species, black grebe, various gull species and common terns. With any luck, nightingale and cuckoo will be heard and marsh harrier or osprey will fly over. As icing on the cake, we go in search of the bluethroat in the adjacent Kreeftepolder.
