Sunday 24 November 2024 Costume historian and writer Martine Teunissen gives a lecture on clothing in the 17th century. In her lecture, she talks about the leading influence of the French court on the fashion of the very rich in the 17th century. Clothing styles changed every ten years; even then, something could go out of fashion just like that. For her lecture, Martine will bring replicas of dresses and other garments of the wealthy from around 1660. Historical textiles are not only Martine Teunissen's profession, but also her passion. She brings the clothes of the past to life in her lectures, books and by displaying (recreated) historical costumes at all kinds of events. Her latest book, Textiles from Dutch soil, was recently released. To be sure of a place, it is recommended to buy a ticket quickly via kaapskil.nl/excursions. Time: 11.30am and 2pm.
