Experience the mudflats in the most ultimate way! Walk across the bottom of the sea and discover what lives in the mud. Feel the mud on your feet, smell the special scent and hear the sounds of the birds and the water in the distance. During this excursion you will look for the animals that live on the mudflats with a guide from the Wadden Association or Ecomare. A special experience! Please note: you can only participate with shoes that remain on in absorbing mud (high lace-up shoes, surf shoes or narrow high boots). There is a minimum number of participants for this activity. If there are too few participants, you will be told in advance whether the activity can take place. Tip: it is often colder on the mudflats than on land. The excursion starts at the dike monument De Schicht, on the Lancasterdijk east of De Cocksdorp.
Age: from 7 years. Tip: bring an extra jacket or sweater and wear shoes that stay on in sticky mud. Dogs are not allowed. Unfortunately, children in a buggy or baby carrier are not allowed. You will be called if the excursion is canceled. The excursion is in Dutch.

A short distance outside De Koog in the dunes near paal 17, you will find the nature museum and seal sanctuary Ecomare. seals If you want to see a seal up close, this is possible in Ecomare. The seals are fed at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. During the feeding, everything is told about the seals that live in Ecomare. You can also admire other sea creatures in Ecomare.
