Sunday June 9, 2024 Accordionist Hans van der Maas performs in De Vermaning. Come meet a versatile musician! Hans van der Maas (1960) is a gifted musician. He studied accordion in Rotterdam and musicology in Utrecht. In addition to music, visual arts, literature and poetry play an important role in his development and career. In 2020 he released his own CD entitled 'Departure', a starting point for new musical paths. The compositions and arrangements are made up of various musical building blocks and inspired by the enormous sound richness of the accordion in combination with electronics. Hans likes to visit Texel regularly and finds De Vermaning a great starting point for musical introductions to Texel residents and tourists. This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
