Would you like to become acquainted with the special world of the cranberry? Then book a tour at IslandBerry! During the tour you will learn a lot about cranberries. In 2011, Jan and Jantina Buijs started building their first cranberry field. Since 2019, they have started a new cultivation method aimed at vertical growth in a climate greenhouse. Jan and Jantina now produce cranberries organically, both in the cranberry field and in the climate greenhouse. Guided tour During the tour, you will join Jan in the cranberry field and get a closer look at the approximately 7,000 cranberry plants. Jantina then uses the presentation stage to explain the special process of growing cranberries. At the climate greenhouse, you'll learn more about the alternative way of growing cranberries, cranberry cuttings and harvesting. You also get to see the equipment they use for harvesting in the field. The tour ends with a tour of the store at Landgoed De Bonte Belevenis, where cranberries are processed into special local Texel products (such as cranberry liqueur, cranberry chocolate bar and cranberry nogaut). From mid-April to October, guided tours are given at the cranberry farm, which is located on Landgoed de Bonte Belevenis in Den Hoorn. The cranberries bloom in June and are harvested in September/October. Please note: there is a minimum number of participants for this activity.
