Art lecture (live at Artex): Maerten van Heemskerck
Wednesday 6 November 2024 Maerten van Heemskerck (1498-1574) was an innovative and productive artist, known for his impressive oeuvre of hundreds of prints and around 100 paintings. Remarkably enough, it took until 2024 before a major exhibition was dedicated to this master. To rectify this, three museums are now jointly organising a unique exhibition, exactly 450 years after his death. Museum, the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar and the Teylers Museum jointly explain how Van Heemskerck was one of the first artists in the Netherlands to apply the style of the Italian Renaissance. Time: from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Price: € 10 per person including coffee/tea/snacks.
