De Koog

De Koog is the seaside resort of Texel. A line of dunes is the only thing separating the village from the beach and sea. In the cosy village centre, you can find lots of great little shops, terraces, restaurants and cafés. The surrounding area is also beautiful. The village is within walking distance of several nature reserves with wonderful cycle paths and footpaths. And there is also lots to do for sport lovers. There is plenty to do in De Koog!

Paradise for sun worshippers

In the summer, the beaches are popular with sun worshippers. Thanks to its great location, you can walk straight to the beach from the village centre. De Koog has everything you need for a perfect day on the beach: a stunning sandy beach, lovely pavilions for a bite to eat and drink, a kiosk where you can buy beach gear and hire windbreaks, deck chairs or even beach huts. What’s more, you can stay at accommodation close to the beach with views of the setting sun. What an experience!

Surfing and beach fun

De Koog is popular with water sports enthusiasts. Particularly, with surfers. Beach posts 19 and 17 are real surfing hotspots. Of course, De Koog beach is also perfect for a game of beach football. The beaches are wide and vast.

Most accommodation is in De Koog

You can find hotels, holiday homes, apartments, chalets and furnished tents in and around the village. Special is Texelcamping Kogerstrand, a camp site situated in the dunes between the village and the beach. Here, rabbits and pheasants pass by your tent or caravan! And in the evening, you can enjoy dining out at one of the many restaurants.

A night out in the seaside resort

If you love going out, De Koog is the place for you. A cosy dinner followed by a visit to the pub or a terrace with views of the nightlife crowd. There are regular music events, with the Tropical Street Festival in the last weekend of August a fixed feature in the event calendar. But De Koog has much more to offer: how about exploring nearby nature reserve De Nederlanden? This is Texel at its best.

Discover National Park Duinen van Texel

De Nederlanden borders on De Koog and is part of National Park Duinen van Texel. Here, you can enjoy wonderful walks on the footpaths or follow a marked route from carpark Mienterglop. Dennenbos, De Muy and De Slufter are also within a short distance of De Koog.
